Born and raised in the DMV, Arkayde The Sage got her start experimenting with her grandmothers piano and organ around age three. From there she would explore the multitude of strange instruments hidden away in her grandparents house. Exposure to a blend of 70s funk, Soul, Gospel, 90s hip-hop and D.C. Go-Go bands in her early child hood would form her love for bouncy percussive instruments and warm soundscapes. However despite never having learned formal music theory, her sound is best described as both unconventional and melodic. Or as one artist described it to her “hood with a touch of class”. Now residing in the 757 (Hampton Roads, Virginia) you can often find Arkayde The Sage tending to her family. But when she’s not with them, she’s mostly in her bedroom studio creating beats for upcoming artist, ghost writing for various artists and websites, or freelancing as a digital specialist by day.
